​Iğdır University Department of Political Science and Public Administration is a part of Iğdır University, located in the dynamic and multicultural province of Iğdır in eastern Turkey. Our department aims to provide students with both academic and professional knowledge and skills by comprehensively addressing the theoretical and practical aspects of politics and public administration in a rapidly changing and globalizing world.​

In our department, which offers undergraduate, graduate and doctoral education, our students are given a wide range of courses such as various political systems, public policies, local governments, international relations and constitutional law. Our programs aim to train professionals who are sensitive to contemporary political problems, think critically and are solution-oriented.

​Our academic staff, who are experts in their fields, prioritize contributing to society through research and scientific projects while providing students with up-to-date knowledge and skills. In this regard, our students graduate as individuals who are knowledgeable in their fields by following developments in Türkiye and around the world.

• Course Contents/ Course Catalog

Double Major Program: Allows students to earn a bachelor's degree in a field they are interested in, in addition to their primary field. In this program, students can complete courses in two different fields and earn a diploma in both fields.

Minor Program: Allows students to take a certain number of courses in a field they are interested in, outside of their major. Students who complete the minor program are given an official certificate in that field; however, this does not mean a second undergraduate degree.

Purpose and Objectives of the Program: The Department of Political Science and Public Administration aims to develop students’ ability to analyze social and political phenomena and to train competent individuals in the fields of des​ign, implementation and evaluation of public policies. The program aims to provide students with a broad knowledge base by providing basic knowledge of disciplines such as political science, public administration, international relations, law, economics and sociology.

This program aims to develop students' critical thinking, research, analysis and effective communication skills. It is aimed for students to gain a comprehensive perspective on both national and international public policies; and to equip them to take an active role in producing solutions to social problems and increasing efficiency in public institutions. In addition, the main objectives of the program are to train graduates as individuals who are well-versed in the principles of public administration, committed to ethical values ​​and ready to contribute to society.

Professions and Employment Opportunities: Graduates of Political Science and Public Administration have a wide range of employment opportunities thanks to their versatile knowledge and skills. Our graduates have the opportunity to find employment in public institutions, as well as in the private sector, non-governmental organizations, media, and international organizations. They can work in positions such as managers, experts, inspectors, and auditors in the public sector, especially in ministries, governorships, municipalities, and various public institutions. They also have the chance to apply for special exams for administrative positions such as district governorships.

In the private sector, they find work opportunities in areas such as research companies, media organizations, banks, consulting firms. In the international arena, there are career opportunities in the United Nations, the European Union and various non-governmental organizations. Our graduates who aim for an academic career can continue their master's and doctoral education and work as academics. This program provides its graduates with analytical thinking and problem-solving skills, allowing them to stand out from their competitors in the job search process.
